What Makes the Les Paul SL Desirable?

Epiphone Les Paul SL Electric Guitar Review

The Epiphone Les Paul SL electric guitar is less heavy than other Epiphone and this makes it easy to be carried around from one place to another. The tone features can be altered easily through the tone/volume controls. You can also change pickups to obtain the sound of your choice.

If you are a type that fancies intense tones with minimal bass content, then the pickups are just right for you. The tiny pickup on the neck enables it to produce good sound.

With the neck at the bridge being close to 43mm wide, a width 1mm more than a Strata/tele and 1mm less than an Epiphone standard, it is important to note that this wider neck makes it a bit easier to play.

More so if you are a newbie, an additional mm to the width is an added advantage. If you ever have a need to fix them, its component parts are neatly fastened onto the pick-guard panel making it easy to be worked on. However, do not do this if you do not know your way around.

Some Not-so-great Aspects To Know

For some players, these tiny pickups make it impossible for them to produce a good string and neat tone. Sometimes, the treble sounds weak and one might need to fix a stronger bridge single-coil pickup to improve the sound.

Probably because it is cheap, this product isn’t so reliable and doesn’t remain strong for long. The switch becomes unsteady and when the lead is infused into the jack socket, it shakes continuously. The tuners are not reliable and do not hold for a long period of time.

It may not be the most suitable for some starters because it requires so many settings and this can be a total turn off for a beginner.

Final Verdict

Considering its many advantages and the little amount you would have to pay for it, one could say that an Epiphone Les Paul SL Electric guitar is a good bet. However, because it is not strong enough and does not last for long, it is advisable to use them only as a spare.
